What is CBD?

The belief at Buelow Wellness LLC is that to truly be healthy we must take charge of our own healing. The best way to do that is to become knowledgeable about the products we put into and onto our bodies. So, what actually is CBD? CBD stands for cannibidiol and is found in the hemp and cannabis plants. The products that are legal, to some degree, in all of the 50 states are derived specifically from the hemp plant and can only have up to 0.3% THC (the psychoactive part of the hemp and cannabis plant). CBD is one of hundreds of cannibinoids that can be found in the hemp plant. CBG, CBN, and CBC are known as periphery cannibinoids and have noteworthy health effects as well, but CBD is truly the driver of the health bus when it comes to these extracts. The human body even produces its own cannibinoid substances known as endogenous cannabinoinds. In addition, the body has receptors for these substances which allows CBD and the other cannibinoids to easily enter human cells and can help in their unique way.

What are cannibinoids good for?

***Medicinal uses of cannibinoids are still being scientifically tested. So the following are mainly based off of self report from users or limited scientific research. The FDA has only given limited confirmation of the health benefits. The symptom relief for conditions listed are suggestive.***

  • It has been effective in providing relief from chronic pain associated with muscular constriction, inflammation, and convulsions. This can potentially give relief to individuals that suffer from MS, Epilepsy, or Fibromyalgia.
  • Some research suggests that individuals struggeling with anxiety-related disorders find effective relief with using CBD.

CBG
  • Significantly reduces intraocular pressure that is related to glaucoma.
  • Works to reduce inflamation, pain, and nausea.

CBN
  • Reduced heart rate has been shown with this cannibinoid.
  • Feelings of grogginess making it an effective sleep aid.

CBC
  • Works on reducing inflammation in the body, but doesn't work with the endocannabinoid system. So, its healing qualities increase when coupled with CBD or THC.
  • Has been said to play a significant role in anti-tumor and anti-cancer treatment.
  • Brain cell development, or neurogenesis, has also been attributed to this cannibinoid.

What are Terpenes anyway?

Terpenes are aroumatic compounds that are found in many plants. They cover many roles within the plant such as defense against animals and insects while also encourageing polination. Some of these terpens can be found in the hemp plant and we are coming to observe that they have similar healing effects like cannibinoids. Scientific evidence is coming forward stating that CBD with Terpenes has been more effective on epilepsy.

Full Spectrum vs Isolates vs Broad Spectrum

  • CBD Isolates

    The simplest form of CBD is an isolate. This means that the single cannabinoid molecule of CBD (only one of over a hundred) is isolated from all the other cannabinoids to create a product that is 99% pure CBD. This means no other peripheral cannabinoids, terpenes or any other constituents other than CBD are present in the product. CBD isolates come in many forms such as oils, edibles, capsules, and vape among other things
    CBD Isolate is Best for…
    • People with sensitivity to THC and other cannabinoids.
    • People living in states with strict THC laws, or those who regularly undergo drug testing in their place of employment.
    • People who wish to cook with CBD and want something with a light flavor.

  • Broad Spectrum CBD

    Besides full spectrum and isolates you may have heard the term “broad-spectrum.” This refers to a CBD product that contains a range of other cannabinoids, but no THC. It allows for most of the benefits of the entourage effect, but with no risk of consuming THC.
    This is ideal if you are completely against THC, but you want the benefits of all the other peripheral cannabinoids. The only downside is often a few of the other cannabinoids or terpenes are lost in the processing. So although it won’t be quite as effective as Full Spectrum it will definitely give you more of the entourage effect than a straight CBD extract.
    Broad Spectrum is Best for…
    • People who want no THC but still want some of the benefits of Full Spectrum.
    • People living in states with strict THC laws, or those who regularly undergo drug testing in their place of employment.
    • People with extreme sensitivity to THC.

  • Full Spectrum CBD

    Full-spectrum CBD products are the least processed containing a full range of cannabinoids and terpenes. This means you are recieving a healthy dose of multiple cannibinoids and terpens which will work better on your ailments. If you are not in a cannabis legal state and your employer drug tests a false positive may come from a urinalysis if taking Full Spectrum CBD. Federally legal amounts of THC 0.3% will be found in Full Spectrum CBD. These trace amounts do not lead to psychotropic effects (getting "high"), but they do lead to something called the "entourage effect." This effect refers to the way cannibinoids and terpens work collectively better than individually as with Isolates, which is an opposite belief than previously thought in the scientific community. Generally, users prefer to use a full-spectrum CBD in order to improve their general well-being.
    Full-Spectrum CBD is Best for…
    • People who want to get the most benefit from their CBD product.
    • People who live in states where cannabis is fully legal and who have no fear of legal repercussions.
    • People who want the benefit of the micro dose of THC.
